Nursing Home Abuse
For some time, Tennessee Nursing Home Neglect Attorney Mark C. Hartsoe has represented families whose loved ones have been the victim of nursing home abuse and neglect. No one wants to end up in a nursing home. Families are faced with tough choices regarding placing elderly or disabled family members in nursing homes because they require around the clock nursing care. Too many times the nursing homes violate the trust that families have placed in them by providing sub-standard care. Some of the signs of nursing home abuse or neglect include the following:
- Unsanitary living conditions
- bed sores/pressure sores
- marks
- bruises and cuts that indicate use of physical restraints
- Severe weight loss and dehydration
- Urinary tract infections and bowel impaction
- Delays in medical care and doctor visits
- Inadequate personal hygiene and nutrition
- Broken bones and injuries from unexplained falls
- Failure to monitor the administration of medication
Nursing home abuse or neglect frequently occurs in facilities that are understaffed. These nursing home corporations try to save money by cutting staff while lowering the minimum level of care provided to nursing home residents. The nursing home may promise a level of care at the time they are selling the nursing home to you and your family members. Unfortunately, the level of care that is ultimately received is in many cases below the promised level. In many cases, nursing home patients are left unattended and minimal levels of care are not provided . . . and loved ones living in nursing homes suffer injuries as a result.
Mr. Hartsoe has handled a number of nursing home cases and would welcome the opportunity to discuss your potential case regarding the poor care your loved one has received and their corresponding injury. It is extremely upsetting to see your family members treated in an inhumane manner and suffer unnecessarily. In order to evaluate your case, it is helpful if a potential client has copies of documented power of attorney authorizing them to make healthcare and other important decisions for the nursing home resident, photographs of any bed sores and other documentation related to the nursing home contract.
September 2010 – Mark Hartsoe is selected as one of the Top Attorneys in the Knoxville region in the area of representing victims of nursing home abuse and neglect.
